Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
In Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia
What Is ACT?
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is an action-oriented approach to psychotherapy that stems from traditional behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. The individual will rediscover what they truly value in their life and how they want to show up in this world.
In doing so, they learn to live from a standpoint of acceptance of their responses and difficulties in life rather than struggling, denying, and avoiding difficult thoughts, sensations, emotions, or memories. With valued living and acceptance, we begin to accept our hardships and take steps toward the life we want to live from a place of psychological flexibility.
When Is ACT therapy Helpful?
ACT is effective when it comes to a number of mental health issues, including:
Anxiety
Stress and burnout
